Job Description

Senior/Engagement Advisor

Closing Date:   14 December 2017 at 11pm

This is a permanent position located in Wellington.

A central role supporting engagement and partnerships across the Ministry

We are looking for an exceptional engagement adviser to join our high performing team of professionals. In this role you will have an important role guiding the Ministry to engage, collaborate and partner with purpose.

The Ministry's job is to make sure our environment supports New Zealand's prosperity – economic, social and cultural – without compromising it for future generations.  We call this environmental stewardship, and it's really important.  To be successful we need excellent relationships with a whole range of groups including business, local government, iwi, NGOs and central government.

From the Engagement team you will drive better stakeholder engagement across the Ministry, making sure we are connected internally, up to date with best practice and sharing knowledge for continuous improvement.

You will able to build great relationships internally and externally and help others to do the same. You will be excellent at planning and coordinating engagement activities and events, you'll be politically savvy, and a creative thinker with an ability to grasp multiple viewpoints.

Using contemporary engagement techniques, you'll help teams engage in a way that is dynamic and inclusive, leading to a free flow of ideas and great policy solutions.  You will be a self-starter with a track record of implementation.

Key to success in this position includes:

  • demonstrated ability to implement effective stakeholder engagement plans
  • an open mind, curiosity and the ability to deal with ambiguity
  • proven ability to work across teams to translate vision into action
  • an ability to connect and introduce innovate ways of thinking
  • excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to write for a range of audiences.
