We are looking for our next Head of Finance and Planning - an experienced, high-performing leader to manage this hard working and skilled team.

What we're looking for

We need someone who will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of best practice financial services and the provision of accurate, timely and relevant financial reporting, budgets and forecasts.

The Head of Finance and Planning manages the production and distribution of periodic accountability documents critical to monitoring and delivering on the EPA's performance expectations.  The role enables the EPA to undertake long term strategic planning by producing accurate planning information that feeds into both internal and external accountability documents and reports.

It's vital that the Finance and Planning team develops and maintains relationships, and engages collaboratively with key stakeholders, internal and external customers. The team actively supports our customer-focussed culture by providing timely, high-quality, relevant advice and service delivery.

The ongoing development and effective use by the wider business of the newly implemented FMIS will be a priority.

This key position contributes to the overall leadership of the EPA by contributing insight, ideas and expert advice to the development and implementation of effective strategic and operational plans.

Knowledge and experience required

We look forward to hearing from you if you have:

  • Experience at a senior level in leading and managing a strategic finance and planning function.
  • Experience in influencing and providing specialist advice and thought leadership to executive managers and Boards.
  • A strong track record in operational improvement initiatives and successful change management.
  • Experience in leading, engaging and motivating a team of highly skilled staff.
  • An in-depth understanding of public sector corporate finance and performance reporting processes, budget cycles and public benefit entity financial reporting standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machinery of government processes and systems (highly desirable).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, along with strong interpersonal skills for building productive collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
  • Tertiary qualification in Finance and Accounting, with CA membership of CAANZ or equivalent.

What we can offer you

We have fantastic central offices on Lambton Quay and offer a range of employee benefits and social activities. The salary offered for this role will fall in the range of $130,000 - $160,000 dependent on the experience and skills you bring to the role.

In addition, you will be joining a highly experienced team of professionals who are focussed on providing excellent support and services to a range of business partners and stakeholders.
