At Oranga Tamariki, we are passionate about caring for children and supporting families. Our goal is to establish a multiagency approach to protecting and caring for New Zealand's most vulnerable children and young people.


We are currently looking for a permanent qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our Sydenham site in Christchurch. In this fast paced role, you will work with other social services, agencies and providers to ensure the needs of the child or young person and their family are fully met.


This position is within the Care and Protection Youth Team and your initial focus as an experienced Social Worker will be to provide mentoring to newer and less experienced staff members within, and developing best practice.

To be successful in this rewarding position, you will need:


  • a qualification in social work recognised by the social work registration board
  • SWRB registration with current APC or working towards gaining registration
  • excellent written & oral communication skills
  • demonstrated resilience, problem solving techniques & flexibility
  • excellent time management & organisational skills
  • strong PC & Microsoft Office Suite skills with excellent report writing and written communication skills
  • full current driver's licence
