Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children, is the new Ministry that supports the vulnerable children and young people in New Zealand.  Oranga Tamariki works to advance the wellbeing and positive long-term outcomes of children and young people.   In everything we do, the wellbeing and best-interests of children are paramount.  The voices of children and young people underpin the design and operation of our services.


About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an Events Advisor to join our communication and engagement team, in a newly formed role. The role can be based in Wellington or Auckland.


The Events Advisor will work closely with a dynamic team of communications and engagement professionals to lead and grow our external and internal events.


This role coordinates important nationwide events like Children's Day and the William Wallace awards. The events advisor works with others to create ceremonies, conferences, leadership forums and workshops.


Events are seen as strategic engagement opportunities so working a part of a coordinated team, this role gets to lead innovative approaches and leverage events so they influence and engage communities, partners and Oranga Tamariki staff.



Skills and experience:

We are looking for an outstanding candidate with proven experience in designing and coordinating events.  


Ideally, the successful candidate will have an understanding of community engagement, marketing and the value of social media. They need to run tight budgets, have excellent relationship skills and an attention to detail.

An organised and composed working style is a must, with the ability to managing rapidly changing environments with ease.
