HR Information Systems Advisor

About the Role

We are looking for an accomplished HR Information Systems Advisor to join our busy Payroll Support team in Human Resources as part of the Corporate Solutions Group.  The ideal candidate will have previous payroll experience.

This role carries out the successful execution, reconciliation and outputs of the Ministry's fortnightly payroll in partnership with CHRIS21 System Administrators and performs critical CHRIS21 system related payroll maintenance and bulk processing tasks associated with keeping the payroll data current and accurate.

This can include assisting with component testing of pay changes following software upgrades, enhancements and general changes to employee's terms and conditions, to ensure that staff are paid accurately and on time. 

You will be involved from time to time in providing support and advice on CHRIS21 System usability issues to Ministry staff where required.   There will be lots of interaction with other closely linked teams within Human Resources to support staff to carry out their roles successfully in a diverse and challenging environment. 

To be considered for the role, you will need:

  • At least three years previous Payroll (preferably CHRIS) and/or HR Advisor experience.
  • Previous experience in HR/Payroll system maintenance with an in-house Human Resource Management System.
  • A working knowledge of the  NZ based Holidays Act, Salary and Wages Protection Act, Tax and Employment legislation.
  • Sound experience and knowledge in the interpretation and application of NZ employment terms and conditions.
  • Computer and keyboard skills with a minimum of Intermediate level  Excel and Microsoft Word skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

  • Skilled in managing relationships with staff at all levels in an organisation.
  • Highly effective problem identification and solution skills.
  • Demonstrates motivation and initiative.
