About MSD

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector.  MSD provides policy advice, and delivers social services and assistance to young people, working age people, older people, and families, whānau and communities.  We work directly with New Zealanders of all ages to improve their social wellbeing.

About the Role

Our HR Consultancy team provides support to managers through complex cases and informal and formal disputes processes.  Our work is complex and often challenging, supporting managers through difficult management and employment situations.

Skills and Experience

You will have experience working with employment policy and legislation preferably in a public sector environment.  You will have worked constructively with employee representatives including lawyers and unions and the Mediation Service.  You may be an HR professional in a busy ER environment or you might have a background in employment law.

You will have the relationship management skills to work through difficult situations, see the big picture and influence parties to reach resolutions.  You will be genuinely consultative in style with a confident but personable approach to your work.  We are a busy team so we require a motivated self-starter, who can prioritize and deliver, successfully working with our colleagues across the full range of HR disciplines.
