Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Solicitor to join our busy in-house legal team. This is a 12-month fixed-term position to cover maternity leave.
This is a varied and interesting role where you will contribute to providing high-quality, timely and practical legal advice to the EPA on a wide range of issues.
On a day-to-day basis we collaborate with our scientists, our Māori policy advisers, senior management, central government departments, and the public.
Our ideal candidate will have over 5 years' experience in a similar role.
We need someone who can provide timely, accurate and solution-focussed legal advice on issues associated with our statutory functions.
You'll be tackling issues such as emissions trading, pesticide use, genetically modified organisms, nationally significant infrastructure projects, and marine consents for oil, gas and seabed mining activities. You'll also provide advice on broader public law issues, including matters relating to the Crown Entities Act, compliance and litigation, as well as on corporate service matters.
We are looking for someone who:
We have fantastic central city offices on Lambton Quay and offer a range of professional development activities and employee benefits.
In addition, you will be part of a high-performing legal team of eight solicitors within our Strategic and Regulatory Services Group. Your teammates come from diverse backgrounds and the collective knowledge of the team presents a great opportunity to build on your in-house legal experience.
We have a collegial culture and a strong emphasis on mentoring and collaboration within the team, working across the entire organisation providing advice and support on governance, policy, and operational issues.
