Family Violence Response Coordinator - Wellington Region

Permanent Full time role

Do you want to make a difference in your community? An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Wellington Region Work and Income MSD team.

The role of Family Violence Response Coordinator (FVRC) is a specialist position supporting, mentoring and providing in-depth advice and training to all Work and Income Staff. Our staff rely on the support of our FVRCs to provide the best service to our clients affected by family violence.

This role provides support to our Wellington, Hutt Valley and Porirua services centres, family violence networks plus government and non-government agencies.  The FVRC team is part of the Regional Services team made up of our range of specialist advisors.

The FVRC works to build the capability of our staff to be able to confidently respond to the needs of our clients experiencing family violence.  

The Family Violence Response Coordinator works to build and maintain relationships with all external providers across the region, including regularly meeting with providers and attending network meetings.    The FVRC ensures that all external contacts are kept up to date with all Work and Income processes and relevant changes.

We are looking for a passionate team player who is committed to delivering excellent client service and enhancing staff capability and demonstrates the following:

  • Understanding of the dynamics of family violence in a social service setting
  • Excellent People and Communication Skills
  • Empathy and Compassion for Clients and Staff
  • Able to provide one on one de-brief or group de-brief sessions
  • Experience in facilitating and delivering training (one to one and in groups)
  • Awareness of local community networks, agencies and service providers
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong working relationships, with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Can multi-task and work under pressure with multiple competing demands
  • Strong planning, organising, problem solving and self-management skills
  • Integrity, accountability and sound judgement
