Salary Range: $119,085.00 - $161,115.00

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen at New Zealand Police, as Manager Strategy and Planning - Finance, within the Finance group, based at Police National Headquarters, Wellington.

This role is responsible for the development and integration of financial strategies, funding and planning for NZ Police.


This role has primary accountability for:

  • Providing high quality strategic planning and guidance 
  • Managing the financial aspects of the NZP business planning process, working with stakeholders & business owners
  • Leading external funding bids
  • Manage linkage with NZP Strategy, Annual Plan, Budget, Business Plans and Business Cases
  • Manage external financial information, including Ministerial, Sector and Treasury briefings
  • Programme and key project input, with focus on influencing quality business cases and business decisions



To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Proven experience in financial strategy and planning in a large, complex NZ Government organisation.
  • In depth experience of the NZ Public Sector financial management environment, including a thorough knowledge of Treasury reporting, Government policy, statutes, accounting principles and management practices. 
  • Ability to deliver high quality, concise information within tight deadlines
  • Experience in actively creating and maintaining partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to evaluate a wide range of external factors in decision making
  • Experience in providing innovative solutions and continuous improvement
  • Staff management skills
  • Professional Accounting Accreditation
