Job Description

  • Ambitious programme of work focused on creating thriving communities
  • Opportunity to create a new team within a new ministry
  • Wellington based – Fixed Term until June 2020

We think all Kiwis should have somewhere warm and dry to live, and we want our cities to lead the world in living standards.  If you agree, now's your chance to be part of building a new Ministry and a brighter future for New Zealand.  KiwiBuild has joined the new Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  As one of the key units we will play a lead role in helping New Zealanders have healthy, secure and affordable homes that meet their needs.  We want to create thriving communities that connect to the places people live, work, learn and play.

Our programme provides the opportunity for a step-change in the housing and construction sector by increasing land and housing supply, investigating major greenfield and urban regeneration projects as well as exploring innovative ways to address market constraints.

About the role ….

Reporting to the Head of KiwiBuild you will play a significant role in a small dynamic, newly formed leadership team responsible for the delivery of KiwiBuild outcomes. You will develop and drive the KiwiBuild operational policy agenda and be a key interface with the HUD Policy Group, working together to ensure the policy work program supports our priorities and objectives. You will build strong collaborative working relationships with other teams to enable our work programme to be successfully delivered.

About you ….

  • Proven successful people leadership experience including ability to build and grow a team and create an inclusive, engaged and customer service culture
  • Significant policy development experience in a government environment
  • Experience in appropriately engaging with Ministers and Ministers offices, government representatives, stakeholders, and other partners
  • Comprehensive understanding of Government decision-making and operating procedures
  • A passion for creating an environment that delivers change, while having fun along the way.
