About MSD

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector.  MSD provides policy advice, and delivers social services and assistance to young people, working age people, older people, and families, whānau and communities.  We work directly with New Zealanders of all ages to improve their social wellbeing.

About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional people leader with extensive experience leading and delivering complex change programmes in a large organisation.

Reporting directly to our new DCE People Culture and Strategy, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of change management to enable MSD to achieve its new strategic direction, Te Pae Tawhiti - Our Future.

This includes:  

  • developing and implementing  the organisational change management strategy for Te Pae Tawhiti
  • engaging with MSD leaders to ensure sponsorship and engagement to achieve successful change
  • working with the Communications and Engagement team to implement high impact communications and stakeholder engagement campaigns.


Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will offer: 

  • deep technical capability in organisational change management and transformational change
  • experience deploying change management in an agile environment
  • proven senior leadership skills with a credible and respected reputation as a leader
  • strong relationship management skills with the ability to navigate through and influence within a complex and dynamic environment
  • extensive experience in the public sector or in a service/community organisation.
