HR Advisor –   Kaitohutohu Pūmanawa Tangata

Based in Wellington

Salary: $58,880 - $76,200

  • Proven capability as an HR Generalist
  • Supporting offices across New Zealand
  • Based in Wellington, some travel is required

What the job involves

The People Capability team delivers our human resources strategy by providing targeted advice, support and guidance to managers on people-related matters and delivering an exceptional employee experience. We also support senior managers to understand the workforce that is needed to provide services to our people, and have plans in place to make sure we build the capacity, capability and leadership for the future.

This is a role that has a strong team delivery focus with multiple demands. You will have to maintain productive working relationships with the team and ensure work is completed to the highest possible standard. You will be working in a busy deadline driven environment alongside other experienced people making a difference and building an inclusive work environment that attracts diverse people and perspectives.

Reporting to the Manager People Capability, this is a HR Generalist role that will see you provide both operational and strategic HR support across the country. Your day will be varied and you will be involved in payroll administration, performance management, recruitment and induction, health and safety, and input on HR policy and guidelines.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an HR professional with 3 to 5 years' experience working in a medium to large organisation or public sector environment. You'll have excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, able to work collaboratively across teams and with external influencers. With the wide variety of work and interactions, you'll need to have the ability to solve problems in a pragmatic way whilst building trusted relationships. We are looking for you to demonstrate your:

  • HR expertise including selection and recruitment processes, payroll, and relationship management
  • agility in managing competing priorities, multiple streams of work in a fast-paced work environment
  • ability to identify gaps or opportunities for improvement, recommend changes and implement them
  • resilient, driven and collaborative approach; a strong team player
