Employment Coordinator, Bay of Plenty Region

Permanent, full time


Employment Coordination is a client/employment-focussed approach that provides a service tailored to the needs of clients who want to work from the earliest possible point, in some cases prior to benefit application. It emphasises what a client can do, not their ill health or disability status. The Employment Coordinator will assist the client move towards, and into employment, and will coordinate support to help them stay in employment. One of the ways they do this is by working effectively with external agencies that provide employment support services and health related interventions. 


Working alongside the Work Brokers in the region, Employment Coordinators introduce and market their clients to potential employers.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate knowledge of issues faced by people with ill health or disabled people when considering employment, and experience in identifying services, products and support networks that are available. 

This is a busy role, so you will need solid planning and organisational skills along with a responsive and proactive approach.


Skills and attributes


The Employment Coordinator is a highly client-centric role; therefore a strong, genuine, customer focus is essential. You will thrive on initiating and building relationships and networks, internally and externally. This role has a promotional/marketing focus, therefore the confidence to market individuals to employers is important.


We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working with people within the health and disability sector – preferable but not essential
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to influence, and focus on the client's strengths and what they're capable of achieving
  • An understanding of the regional and local labour market would be advantageous
  • The ability to broker employment opportunities for clients
  • A commitment to achieving outcomes and goals
  • Sound judgement and problem solving skills, with the ability to “think outside the square”
  • Strong communication skills with an empathetic approach


A requirement of this role is a full clean valid New Zealand driver's licence without conditions.  


Remuneration for this role is from $46,688.00 to $64,196.00 (Range D). Application along this salary scale is dependent on relevant work experience and evidenced skills.
