This is why we're establishing a Strategy & Design Directorate to design system enhancing strategies, products and services. This Directorate has the mandate, skills and resources for transformational change that has lasting impact on New Zealanders' lives.

We're seeking a senior advisor to work on key projects in the operational strategy team. The team's focus is the development of 1-2 year operational strategies and implementation plans to meet longer-term goals. It has close links to the teams responsible for products, services and sector engagement.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading and supporting operational strategy projects aligned to longer term strategic goals to shape and influence tertiary education and the careers systems.
  • Using and gathering data and information from our customers – learners, industry bodies, education providers and others in the public sector – to develop implementable strategy.
  • Work closely with Ōritetanga - Learner Success Team to develop plans that make a significant difference for Māori and Pasifika learners.

What can you bring?

  • Operational strategy development experience at a senior level, ideally you will have led successful projects from initiation through to implementation.
  • Stakeholder management skills that enable you to get the most out of interactions with colleagues and  customers
  • Ability to select and synthesise data and information to support the development of strategies.
  • Great writing skills to enable you to tell the story of the ‘what and why' of the strategies we deliver.

What will you get in return?

  • The chance to make a significant impact in a newly established team operating in an environment that is ready for change. Your strategies will have a meaningful, direct effect on education and careers products and services in the coming 1-2 years.
  • $82k- 97k+, depending on relevant experience.
  • The TEC offers a range of benefits including, flexible working options, a wellness programme and ability to purchase extra leave.

If this sounds of interest, please apply now. Application close on Sunday 3rd March. If you have any questions, please contact Nick Walshe at hr@tec.govt.nz.

The TEC is an equal opportunity employer and committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion. Your unique talents and experience will help us deliver exceptional services to New Zealand. We look forward to your application.
