Intensive Client Support Manager - Christchurch

Full Time, Fixed Term/Secondment until 30th June 2020


Our organisation provides intensive and targeted support to clients with high and complex needs.  We are looking for a motivated individual to closely support our clients to gain independence through employment, in an innovative environment.


This role is part of the Supporting Offenders into Employment trial that is based in a number of regions nationwide, working in partnership with the Department of Corrections.


The focus of the ICSM role is to work with prisoners who are either soon to be released or clients who have recently been released to help achieve sustainable employment outcomes and reduce re-offending.  You'll provide intensive case management as well as navigation to other support to help manage client barriers while work closely MSD, Corrections and other key stakeholders.


You will need to commit time to understand your clients' needs, manage their barriers, and move them closer towards sustainable employment.  You will help them work towards their goals that will make a difference for them in the long term, and be independent and productive members of the community.


On a daily basis, you could be doing any of the following:

  • Meeting clients in prison, Community Probation or Work and Income Service Centres
  • Identifying and helping them sort out any needs and concerns
  • Mentoring the client
  • Making referrals to help them sort their barriers
  • Facilitating access to suitable employment, education and training


To succeed in this role you will need to:

  • Have a passion for changing people's lives for the better
  • Possess the ability to work alongside clients from diverse backgrounds and communities
  • Enjoy helping people overcome a range of challenges they may face
  • Be flexible, solutions-focussed and client centric
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a full New Zealand driver's licence without conditions

Please note external applicants will be required to undergo extensive MSD training.  There will be some travel involved in this role to attend overnight training and workshops.


Remuneration for this role is from $46,688 to $64,196.  Application along this salary scale is dependent on relevant work experience and evidenced skills.
