Job Description

Archaeologists based in Auckland

                     - part-time 16 hours per week

Make a difference to Heritage

This role is an exciting opportunity to make a highly significant contribution as part of Heritage New Zealand's Mid-Northern team of heritage professionals in the protection and conservation of New Zealand's historic heritage through the archaeological provisions of the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Act and other statutory tools.

You will work as part of a supportive, friendly, central city team with archaeologists in Auckland and nationwide as professional colleagues. The Mid-Northern area covers the greater Auckland, Thames-Coromandel and Hauraki districts and travel within those areas will be required.

Heritage New Zealand is seeking applications from people with knowledge and experience of the statutory archaeological processes under the HNZPTA 2014 and other legislative processes along with proven skills and competence in archaeological assessment and investigation, reporting and site management. Experience in the direction or management of archaeological works would be an advantage. You will be required to communicate expert archaeological advice to internal and external stakeholders including archaeological consultants, property owners, local authorities, developers and whanau/hapu/iwi together with the ability and confidence to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.

A tertiary qualification (MA) in New Zealand archaeology or equivalent is essential.

The salary range for the positions is $66,000 - $73,000 full-time equivalent

Applications close at 5pm on Monday 22 April 2019.
