Job Description

If you're looking for your “why”, then come and join us at the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). We truly believe in the transformational benefits of education and vocational training and as a result we invest $3 billion a year in tertiary education and training.

It's an exciting time to be working at TEC as we expand our role from an investor in tertiary education, to one that also seeks to lift the aspirations and skill bases of all New Zealanders from ages 7 to 74. We are developing tools and information to help all New Zealanders navigate a path of lifelong learning for fulfilling careers and successful lives.

Our relationship management team are responsible for leading TEC's interaction with our partners, the largest tertiary education providers, supporting them to perform effectively by providing key information and understanding and delivering to their needs.

We're looking for a leader for the team who can inspire our relationship managers to support our customers, so the team can focus on forming great relationships.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading a team of relationship managers and a project team who are the listeners, talkers and connectors, delivering holistic relationship management to our providers.
  • Supporting the relationship managers through complex stakeholder management.
  • Working with teams internally to join the dots, support our customers and ensure we all stay connected.

What will you bring to the role?

  • A background in relationship management.
  • A results-driven attitude with the ability to remain focussed under pressure, organise priorities for you and a team.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring professional staff to form and maintain great working relationships.
  • Ideally financial and commercial sector experience.
  • Experience in or the ability to demonstrate cultural intelligence and to operate effectively in diverse cultural contexts.

What will you get in return?

  • An opportunity to work for a vibrant, professional and friendly team who truly believe they can make a difference.
  • $148k - $174+, depending on relevant experience.
