Job Description

The TEC - Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do – ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country. We lead the Government's relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data team.  If you would like to champion data management culture, working in a friendly and dynamic team passionate about “data as an asset” and committed to contribute to the bright vision of tertiary education and career strategy in New Zealand then this could be the role for you.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide expertise in translating business needs into data to drive value
  • Perform logical and physical data modelling activities
  • Develop and maintain common data model and data standards, master data, reference data, metadata and definitions
  • Champion effective data management framework, metrics, processes to ensure consistent applications in all projects and enhancements 

What can you bring?

  • Proven experience in transforming business requirements to data requirement, data modelling and design, data analysis and profiling
  • Solid understanding of data management concepts including master data, data security, metadata, data integration
  • Advanced knowledge of key programming language (i.e. SQL)          
  • Continuous improvement philosophy
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users
