Job Description

Work Broker, Auckland Limited Service Volunteer Programme

Full time, Permanent

Our organisation provides intensive and targeted support to clients with high and complex needs.  We are looking for motivated individuals to closely support our clients to gain independence through employment, in an innovative environment. This role is part of the Limited service Volunteer programme (LSV) based in a number of regions throughout New Zealand, working in partnership with the Youth Development Unit of the Ministry of Defence.

About the Role

This role will appeal to a sales oriented person as you will become the voice of your clients by marketing their skills to employers. You enjoy business development and engaging with diverse groups of people and communities. Your natural flair for seeking out labour market trends and insights ensures you proactively anticipate impacts and opportunities. You thrive under pressure and enjoy using your tenacity and initiative to find solutions and achieve goals and you enjoy working in a supportive team environment.

You will be responsible for working with employers to gain opportunities for the LSV trainees.  You will also responsible for organising the Employment related activities during the LSV course, which includes organising and running of Employment related Expos.

What skills do I need to be a LSV Work Broker?

  • Enjoy working with young people and have a genuine desire to help them grow and develop
  • Understand what makes a great job match for both employers and employees
  • Have excellent facilitation skills with the ability to engage an audience to influence positive change
  • Work alongside clients and employers from diverse backgrounds
  • Be flexible, solution focused and client-centric
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be tenacious, professional and driven to overcome road blocks
  • Enjoy building relationships and making new connections
  • Be a genuine Team Player

The position's home base is Auckland Regional Office but at times you could work from Service Centres, and you should expect to spend quite a bit of your time at Whenuapai Base.  There may be times when you are required to work outside the core hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm week days when the course is running.  This role will work alongside the LSV Coordinator and have a relationship with the Regional Work Brokers within each district.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be involved with a great team of people who are focused on outcomes for young people, working in partnership with NZ Defence.

To succeed in this role you will need to:

  • Have a passion for working with Youth
  • Enjoy helping people overcome a range of challenges they may face
  • Be flexible solutions focussed and client centric
  • Have a full New Zealand Drivers licence without conditions.
