Technical Specialist Middleware, Auckland


The Ministry of Social Development has one of the largest IT Groups in the country, managing the full Solution Delivery Life Cycle from strategy and design to management and on-going support of IT Systems. In order to enable the Ministry to deliver business outcomes to its clients, the Infrastructure and Services team must deliver reliable and secure technical solutions underpinned by excellent service and support. Are you an experienced Middleware Technical Specialist with Oracle Database Administrator experience?  If so, we are looking for you to join our Auckland based team! 


Drawing on your technical expertise you will have strong communication skills, written and verbal and ability to work within a multi-platform integrated environment. The ability to work under pressure and manage difficult situations is highly regarded.


You will have proven experience supporting the full SDLC through to Production with the ability to quickly understand and be trained in the areas you may not have proven experience.


Key Requirements:


  • Specialist background with Middleware products
  • Experience with the suite of Oracle Server databases
  • Experience with SQL, PL/SQL & RDBMS technology
  • Experience installing, configuring, tuning, operating, monitoring and troubleshooting Weblogic Server and/or IBM Websphere.
  • Experience of other middleware platforms (IBM BPM/ODM, Rails, Tomcat, DataPower) desirable.
  • Understanding emerging technologies, related technologies, methodologies and advise, recommend and lead the adoption of appropriate technologies as required
  • Able to assist in resolving production related incidents
  • Previous experience supporting applications in a production environment.
