Principal HR Business Partner (South Island) - Fixed Term 12 Months

About the Role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for and experienced HRBP to join out busy team for 12 months. Based in Christchurch, you will be responsible for providing high level, trusted and expert advice and support to Managers within assigned business groups across the South Island.

 

You will actively contribute to direction setting and achievement of business strategy.  This is a pivotal and influential role and an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to building your business group's capability.

Human Resources support the Ministry to have the organisation, people and culture to deliver on the Government's outcomes and priorities.  We provide advice and help to develop effective HR strategies and provide a full suite of HR policies, procedures and support to managers and employees.  We are committed on delivering a quality HR service that meets and responds to our customers changing needs.

 

About MSD

 

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector.  MSD provides policy advice, and delivers social services and assistance to young people, working age people, older people, and families, whānau and communities.  We work directly with New Zealanders of all ages to improve their social wellbeing.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • leading substantial HR related initiatives and developing people strategies
  • providing significant thought leadership in the areas of business strategy, workforce strategy, people capability (including leadership) and organisational change
  • communicating HR's strategy and position on issues with credibility and influence
  • being the key link between the HR functions and the business to support the development and implementation of the Ministry's and service line organisational strategies and business plans.
  • regularly travelling to sites across the South Island

 

Skills and Experience

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • high level knowledge of human resource practice and relevant employment legislation
  • proven ability in the management of HR issues and provision of HR advice and guidance to senior managers
  • a strong expertise in change management
  • experience in building strategic relationships and being a credible/trusted advisor at a senior leadership level
  • proven experience in developing, implementing and articulating strategic HR and business plans
  • the ability to articulate the contribution of people plans to strategic business objectives and demonstrate how HR activity can add value to the business performance and outcomes
  • sound experience in coaching at senior line manager level.
  • Full Drivesr License Required
