Job Description

The TEC - Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do – ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country. We lead the Government's relationship with the Tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our team.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Manage supported databases and systems on premise and in the future, cloud environments.
  • Conduct capacity planning to ensure that applications and databases are responsive to the demands.
  • Monitor changes/upgrades to the applications and databases arising from system updates, software releases, requests and new procedures, ensuring that the environment is consistent across all applications.
  • Troubleshoot and support existing database processes; deliver fixes, ensure database integrity and security.
  • Establish and uphold performance metrics for the system as a whole and key business applications in particular.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure performance using tools available to diagnose and audit the issues and potential bottlenecks.

 

What can you bring?

Experience and skills in:

  • Strong SQL database administration.
  • Extensive experience in writing Transact-SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL, a deep understanding of database full life-cycle designing, and application development.
  • Experience in ETL -extract, transform, load-engineering.
  • Extensive version control experience.
  • Experience with Windows operating system.
  • Some Cloud (AWS- Amazon Web Services and Azure) experience.
  • Experience in presentation tools like SSRS –Server Reporting Services- or Qlik.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems.
