We lead the Government's relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services to lift the aspirations and skill bases of all New Zealanders from ages 7 to 74.

We're seeking a senior project manager for the Reform of Vocational Education (RoVE) programme. RoVE is the largest transformational change in the education sector in over 30 years, creating a strong, unified, sustainable system for all vocational education.

This is a two-year fixed-term role for an experienced project manager managing three projects. The projects are system-wide changes, funding (including policy and process design) and establishment of Centres of Vocational Excellence.

These projects are at the establishment phase and will involve working across TEC and MOE teams, making this an exciting challenge and a great time to join the programme.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading up to three projects, including planning and scheduling, risk management and reporting in accordance with the standards set out by the RoVE PMO.

  • Managing resources, working closely with functional resources where there are any shared resources across projects.

  • Tracking benefits and budgets.

  • Working with key agency stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

What can you bring?

  • Project delivery experience, ideally in a cross-sector or agency environment.

  • Strong stakeholder management experience,

  • Previous experience working in government agencies, education and policy implementation experience would be an advantage.

  • Experience in a range of project methodologies, ideally with relevant qualifications e.g. PMI/PRINCE2/Agile.

  • Use of Agile principles and Scrum methodology in policy/design environments would be an advantage

  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects.

What will you get in return?

  • An opportunity to lead projects that will have a significant impact on the Tertiary Education system.

  • $115k - $145k +, depending on experience.
