Job Description

The TEC - Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do – ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country. We lead the Government's relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services to lift the aspirations and skill bases of all New Zealanders from ages 7 to 74.

We're seeking a PMO lead for the Reform of Vocational Education (RoVE) programme. RoVE is the largest transformational change in the education sector in over 30 years, creating a strong, unified, sustainable system for all vocational education.

This is a two-year fixed-term role for an experienced PMO lead to complete the establishment and manage the PMO for the RoVE Programme. The PMO is currently a team of four (PMO Lead, Planner, Governance Analyst and Administrator). The team is expected to grow to include benefits, risks and assurance and financial analysis functions.


What will you be doing?

  • Supporting projects across the RoVE Programme including setting minimum standards that projects within RoVE.

  • Working closely with other functions to ensure appropriate input is provided and relevant standards, processes, frameworks and tools are applied on projects within RoVE, eg, TEC EPMO, Principal Risk Advisor, Financial Management Accountant, Procurement).

  • Be the home for governance and control – such as quality standards, approvals, budget monitoring, risk and issue management, schedule management, change control etc.

  • Provide key information to governance groups for decision making.

  • Taking a proactive and supportive role in the successful delivery of programme.


What can you bring?

  • PMO, Programme, and Project management experience in large programmes of work.

  • Stakeholder management skills, ideally having worked cross-agency and with government stakeholders.

  • Experience building and managing effective project teams

  • PMI/PRINCE2/Agile qualifications would be an advantage.
