Data Engineer / SAS Administrator – Data Management and Information Delivery (DMaID)


Our Data Management and Information Delivery Unit in our Insights Group is looking for an experienced SAS Systems administrator to help us deliver on our work programme. We are a busy team who work together to ensure that the information the Ministry collects is made available to others in a form that is useful and appropriately structured. This position is in the Data Management Operations of DMaID.


About the Role:
We are looking for someone experienced in providing operational support to a large-scale SAS data warehouse that brings together corporate information from a variety of different business contexts. Experience with administering, configuring and optimising a SAS Grid and SAS VA environment will be essential. You will be able to talk to both technical and non-technical people about systems administration and you will have the capability to work using Agile methodology.
The DMaID Unit is a critical part of iMSD and the wider Ministry. We are responsible for data stewardship ensuring safe and leading practice around data linking, privacy, ethics and access; development and maintenance of business rules and providing advice on data quality.

You will bring:

  • Experience administering SAS Platform and SAS Visual Analytics
  • Expertise in SAS development and be able to troubleshoot others code.
  • Be comfortable working with Linux and Shell Scripting
  • Knowledge of modern data warehousing architecture
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Knowledge of Dev/Ops or Data/Ops principles, practices and tools.
