Job Description

Team Leader Safe, Strong Families and Communities

  • Fantastic opportunity to manage both people and programmes
  • Provide high level relationship management and leadership
  • Permanent role, National Office, Wellington

We are looking for a highly motivated leader to help shape the direction of our Safe, Strong Families and Communities work programmes.

About our Team

The Safe, Strong Families and Communities (SSFC) team sits within the Community, Partnerships and Programmes business unit at MSD. The current focus of the SSFC team is MSD's response to sexual violence, family violence and building financial capability across New Zealand.
In our work, we make a real and positive difference for communities, through the services we invest in and the support we give.

About the Role

This is an exciting fast paced role working within a programme / project management model.  With that in mind, the team leader oversees a team within Family and Community Services that focus on service design, service implementation, and management of particular portfolios of services and relationships both internally and externally. You will combine subject matter expertise with broader skill sets around the above areas. Essentially, we work with services that most directly respond to the needs of victims, perpetrators and their families.

This role will have a strong focus on sexual violence and implementing government initiatives as reflected in their budget investment.

Your role as Team Leader will include responsibilities such as:

  • Providing strong leadership, skilled in building and supporting an efficient, high performing team
  • Leading, managing and implementing programmes of work
  • Contributing to the team's strategic direction and tracking programme performance
  • Building and influencing effective business relationships

About your Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Strategic focus to guide service design and facilitate implementation
  • Proven experience implementing and managing programmes of work
  • Exceptional relationship management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a passion for delivering robust solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and manage risk

We need an actions-focused leader who can motivate their team to get the job done!  An understanding of social services or experience within the sector is desirable, as is an understanding of the commissioning process and results-based contracting.

This is a great role for a Team Leader who thrives on supporting the development of people and working with a variety of external stakeholders.

If you want to join a team which is constantly challenged with a wide variety of work, we welcome your application!
