Senior Advisor - Employment


  • New role to provide high quality operational advice while working as part of a small dynamic team
  • Contribute and support the delivery of key action plans to enhance client experience and outcomes
  • Secondment or Fixed Term to June 2020, Wellington based


We have a new opportunity for a Senior Advisor Employment to join a small, dynamic team in the new Employment Business Group. Working alongside the Group General Manager, Director and the wider Service Delivery Group you will provide technical, operational and analytical advice and support on key employment issues.


This role is highly collaborative, and you will need the confidence and proven ability to develop and manage relationships at all levels across the Ministry and with key stakeholders. You will demonstrate the ability to work at pace to deliver smart solutions to complex problems and provide pragmatic and effective advice. 


For this role you will:


  • Have an understanding and keen interest in the key issues facing the Ministry and Government regarding employment
  • Have proven ability to work collaboratively and responsively in a high-profile sector
  • Contribute and support work programmes on a broad range of issues to deliver government employment initiatives
  • Provide high quality advice and subject matter expertise
  • Have proven ability to successfully implement policy
  • Have great relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Provide input to identifying issues that may impact on work programmes and delivery
  • Have proven experience delivering quality work to tight deadlines
  • Have excellent communication skills including the ability to present clear, concise documentation
  • Have highly developed analytical skills with the ability to provide robust recommendations
