Helping people, whānau, families and communities is at the centre of what we do, working with New Zealanders of all ages to improve their social wellbeing.

About the Team

The Forecasting and Costing Team, is a specialist team within the Ministry of Social Development providing expert analysis on the demand for and cost of the benefit system, helping to inform government decision makers on their key policy decisions. A recent example of this is our sought-after expertise in modelling and understanding the benefit payments for the Welfare Expert Advisory Group.
