Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and experienced leader to join the new System Leadership Group at Crown Law in the role of Manager, GLN Programmes and Capability.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, System Leadership, this is an exciting opportunity to lead the Government Legal Network (GLN) team to enhance capability throughout the GLN, including through the delivery of key GLN programmes. The GLN has gone from strength to strength since its establishment in 2011, and is now a key mechanism through which the Solicitor-General fulfils her role as the system leader for lawyers across the Crown. Current activities of the GLN include popular programmes such as the summer clerk programme, graduate programme, Lawyers in Government conference, the Chief Legal Advisers Forum, the Legal Leaders Group, and the People Plan projects.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • passion and enthusiasm for the GLN and its role across government
  • significant public sector experience, preferably in a legal function
  • an excellent understanding of in-house legal practice and functions, management, and systems development
  • well developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • the ability to manage, lead and inspire the GLN team, and across the GLN
  • strong project management and planning skills
  • the ability to operate at a strategic level while not losing sight of the detail.

Crown Law embraces diversity and is committed to an inclusive workplace. We recognise and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals and celebrate the collective talent of all employees.

If you wish to apply please send a covering letter and CV to systemleadershiprecruitment@crownlaw.govt.nz by 4pm on Monday, 18 November 2019.
