About our Team


The Intelligence Unit leads the Ministry's intelligence-led approach to external and internal integrity related risks and threats that the Ministry, its staff, assets and programmes may face.  The Unit applies an evidence-based approach to regulatory compliance at a strategic level with a strong focus on prevention as well as providing operational and tactical intelligence support to regionally based Fraud Units.



About the Role


The Intelligence Analyst assists the Manager Intelligence to provide tactical and operational intelligence advice to Ministry stakeholders including the development of intelligence products, processes, intelligence driven strategies and provide support to operational activity.


 Key responsibilities include:


  • Supporting investigations and projects by applying intelligence analysis tools and using the intelligence analysis discipline
  • Identifying trends, linkages between people, organisations and integrity issues in respect to Service Delivery functions and MSD more broadly
  • Developing and promoting an intelligence culture through new project initiatives, work processes and developing/maintaining key relationships
  • Working co-operatively with other government agencies that contributes to an overall government approach to support law enforcement and other regulatory agencies


Skills and Experience 


To be successful in this role, you will need: 


  • Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of the intelligence analysis discipline - processes and techniques
  • To be a practical and logical thinker, with the ability to work collaboratively while actively identifying and managing organisational risks
  • To learn and understand the Social Security Act 1964 and other related or relevant legislation
  • To learn and understand the Ministry's benefits, pensions,  supplementary allowances and programs
  • Knowledge/experience in computer tools in the areas of information management
