We're looking for an Emergency Management Advisor / Senior Advisor National Operations to join our small, but highly productive team based in Wellington.

You'll need to have strong communication, influencing, and relationship management skills and be a positive, proactive person and a team player.

We are interested in hearing from you if you can work with a high degree of autonomy and self-management and have a background in geospatial technology and/or information systems, preferably in an emergency management context

You will have experience in:

  • Working in an operational environment with times of high pressure;
  • Developing and maintaining operational processes and systems;
  • Translating technical speak into plain and understandable language;
  • Delivering projects or instituting change in a fast paced environment; and

The Advisor/Senior Advisor role offers a great opportunity to take your Geospatial / information systems skills to the next level.

You will use your technical know-how and apply a very strong customer relationship focus as you work and collaborate with colleagues within MCDEM, and externally with Civil Defence Emergency Management Groups, Central Agency Shared Services IT specialists, vendors and partner agencies.

As part of the Advisor/Senior Advisor role you will play an important part in our Duty Team and helping New Zealand to respond to emergency events.

This position requires you to successfully obtain and maintain a 'Secret' or higher security clearance and only people with the right to work in New Zealand may apply.
