Job Description

Chief Advisor - Policy Quality

Are you recognised as an expert in your field? A thought leader? Do you see your success through the work of others?

DPMC has an exciting and ambitious opportunity for a savvy, experienced Policy Leader to join the Security and Intelligence Group. This is a brand new role. The 'Chief Advisor - Policy Quality' will help lead our efforts to be exemplars in policy practice. You will shape future policy direction and, most importantly, lift policy and people capability. The teams you will work through are focused on National Security, Civil Defence and Emergency Management, and Cyber Policy. You will also provide professional policy support and mentoring to the Strategic Policy Team in the Greater Christchurch Group. The nature of the policy challenges you will be involved in are as broad as the differences and similarities of these groups. You will be recognised as a policy expert and for the rigor you bring to your craft.

Policy professionals within the Security and Intelligence Group are uniquely placed to provide first opinion advice across a broad range of interesting, and critical resilience and security issues. You will need to work alongside managers to coach, mentor and develop our people, lifting individual and collective capability and quality.  Building relationships across DPMC (particularly MCDEM, PAG and the Policy Project), you be looking for opportunities for our people and policy practice to work together and continue building a strong policy community of interest with our sector partners.

We want the right person in place and are happy to consider a secondment, fixed term or a permanent appointment.  Irrespective of your employment conditions, your success will be measured by the people and policy capability you build.
