Job Description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a superstar to join the Parliamentary Service based in the out of Parliament office of Christchurch Central. This position offers real variety and provides an insight into New Zealand's political process.

You will provide high quality support to Duncan Webb by ensuring the day to day running of the office. This is not just any ordinary role - you will deal with constituents in your community who may come in to the office or phone you for advice or need someone to listen to their issues. You will deal with correspondence, emails, organise functions and research issues where required. Your empathetic manner, resilience and unflappable personality will mean all constituents are treated respectfully. As you can imagine, this is an interesting and varied role!

You will also assist with engagement with the communities of Christchurch Central. This will include helping in the delivery of information to a wide range of constituents both in person and through other media platforms, including social media.

Parliamentary Service is focussed on excellence and innovation. This is a fast-paced role requiring an organised candidate who can communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You will have previous administration experience in an office environment along with excellent communication skills and competent computer skills.

We have two roles on offer for this office with hours from 20-40 per week and the duties above may be shared between candidates.

Some flexibility in hours may be required, particularly when the House is sitting. This is an events-based, fixed-term role linked to the term of the Member of Parliament.

Applications close Sunday, 22 October 2017.

The Parliamentary Service appoints on merit and is committed to EEO and good employer principles.
