Job Description

Portfolio Manager, NZDMO

Exciting career opportunity for a Portfolio Manager to be part of our new NZDMO Auckland capability

  • Work at the heart of central government
  • Make a real impact and difference to New Zealand
  • Join a supportive, collaborative and high performing team

The Treasury is the New Zealand Government's lead economic, financial and regulatory advisor. Our vision is to be a world-leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders.

The New Zealand Debt Management Office (NZDMO) is an operational unit of the Treasury responsible for managing the core Crown's borrowing requirements and associated activities, with a goal of managing debt in a way that minimises costs over the long term while keeping risk at an appropriate level.

The NZDMO is creating a small Auckland based presence to complement the Wellington based team, primarily to enhance business continuity capability.  This creates a unique and exciting opportunity for a Portfolio Manager to join us and work out of our newly established Auckland office, reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management.  As well as contributing to the management of NZDMO's New Zealand dollar and foreign-currency asset and liability portfolio you'll develop strategies for the efficient management and execution of transactions that add-value and manage risk.

In addition to having a qualification in finance, mathematics, economics or accountancy you will have;

  • Demonstrated experience in a financial or capital markets role
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and
  • The ability to develop and manage professional relationships.
