Management or Assistant Management Accountant at Accident Compensation Corporation, Wellington - Wairarapa

  • We have an opportunity for either a Management Accountant or Assistant Management Accountant

This is no ordinary management accounting role. We need someone to help us partner within our business to develop insights and help shape solutions. Initially this role will be knee deep in the management of claims costs and levy revenue.

The Management Accountant is responsible for providing support to the Finance Business Partners to provide financial insights as a trusted business advisor in their area of accountability.

This includes developing relationships with internal and external customers including our senior leadership team. You will need to build a strong understanding of their business objectives and issues, and proactively provide advice, guidance and innovative solutions that integrate with the organisational strategic direction and goals.

What we are looking for from you to be successful in this role:

  • You have a proven ability to proactively engage with the business building and maintaining strong business relationships
  • You can identify and successfully manage risks and issues which may negatively impact on the business
  • Strong planning, analytical and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Sound presentation, negotiation, communication and strong relationship management skills.
  • You are a team player and have a high level of initiative.
  • A proactive and proven commitment to continuous improvement for both the team and the business
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft suite of applications and ability to learn accounting applications (e.g. Hyperion).
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or other accounting bodies desirable but not essential.
  • Strong analytical skills.
