Job Description

The start of Fire and Emergency NZ has provided the opportunity for a Volunteer Support Officer to support the Canterbury Fire Brigades. The role is to provide greater support to volunteers during the integration phase of Fire and Emergency NZ.

The role reports through to the Area Manager and will be responsible for supporting the volunteer brigades within the Area with:

  • operational and administrative support including monitoring operational readiness
  • fire risk management initiatives and recruitment activities
  • business planning
  • driving a 'service culture' ethos
  • the roll out of initiatives and projects and equipment
  • coordinating repair and maintenance of equipment
  • ensuring health and safety is paramount.

Suitable candidates must have:

  • sound interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • competent in the use of MS Office and other IT systems
  • effective communicate both written and oral
  • some knowledge or exposure to financial management budgeting and/or business planning
  • drivers licence essential - Heavy vehicle duty licence a bonus.
