Welcome to Southern DHB! Our DHB covers the largest geographical catchment amongst all the DHB's in New Zealand. We proudly strive to provide top-quality healthcare to our diverse patient population. Nephrology Otago is an inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department based service providing service across our District. Duties would include supervising our renal dialysis unit that is used for training and acutely unwell patients, supporting our exclusively delivered home haemodialysis model, and direct involvement with working patients up for renal transplantation. We are now looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Renal Physician who is willing to influence, lead change within the department, and bring their passion and commitment for acute and outpatients care to the fore.
About the role
This role is based in Dunedin but will require travel on occasion to Southland. As an introduction, we provide care for a population of approximately 350,000 spread over the lower South Island of New Zealand. Our staff enjoy close relationships with the University of Otago, School of Medicine, and Otago Polytechnic School of Nursing. We benefit from continuous professional development, involvement with medical and nursing student training, participation in research, and many more opportunities arising from working in a combined clinical-academic environment.

You will need to have, or be eligible to be awarded, vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as a FRACP in Nephrology or an equivalent qualification as recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
