Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga is Aotearoa New Zealand's leading bicultural heritage agency. We provide recognition, protection, and support for heritage and heritage places throughout the country. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and skill to be a planning advocate who can effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
The role sits within the Central Region/Te Takiwā o Te Pūtahi a Māui – a dynamic team charged with championing heritage and making it relevant for current and future generations. You will be part of a team of heritage professionals that works across the southern half of the North Island and the top of the South Island. Your role will require travel within the region.
We're looking for a team-player who is also a self-starter and confident interacting with a range of individuals, institutions, authorities, agencies, and businesses. We need someone who appreciates the value of accuracy, processes and reporting, but who also enjoys innovative thinking and problem solving.
We'd love to hear from you if you:
- Have expertise in a range of planning work, including writing assessments of and submissions on resource consent and District plans and policies.
- Are a skilled communicator comfortable with speaking in intimate and public settings.
- Have the ability and confidence to foster relationships and negotiate outcomes with stakeholders.
- Are someone with a demonstrable passion for history and culture.
A degree or qualification in RMA Planning from a recognised programme, as well as a minimum of 3-5 years' experience is essential.
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team in a stimulating environment. If you want to work with an organisation that is committed to growing its people in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, we would like to hear from you!
This role is part-time (20 hours per week). Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga is also advertising a second part-time position for a Conservation Architect/Conservation Advisor based in Wellington. We would consider a single full-time position covering both roles for a suitably qualified candidate. If you are interested in both positions, please submit a single application with a cover letter clearly indicating that you would like to be considered for both roles.
Applications close at: 5pm Monday 24 January 2022
