Conservation Architect / Building Conservator at Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Otago

Based in Dunedin
Part-time 30 hours per week
Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga is New Zealand's primary agency for cultural heritage protection and advocacy. We are looking for someone with passion and skill to be an effective conservation advocate for the historic places of Otago and Southland. You will provide expert building conservation and cultural heritage preservation advice to our property staff, councils, iwi, owners, and stakeholders in Otago and Southland, in regard to heritage management, and the adaptation of listed and scheduled historic places. Travel within the area will be involved.
The role calls for expertise in building conservation practices and principles, strong understanding of building and construction, and proven ability to write fit-for-purpose heritage assessments. You will also be representing Heritage New Zealand in public forums. Candidates also need the ability and confidence to foster strong relationships and negotiate positive outcomes with stakeholders.
A qualification and experience in a relevant field of building and/or architectural conservation is required.
