About the Opportunity
In response to an increased demand for evidence-based decision making across the Ministry, our dynamic research and evaluation team needs to grow!
Bring your expertise in designing, undertaking and delivering research and evaluation projects to help us inform key decisions about employment-related interventions.
The role sits within the Research and Evaluation team in the Strategy and Insights Group which leads development and implementation of the Ministry's strategy by creating insights for effective decision making and focusing resources on the right investments, through understanding and evaluating performance.
About the Team
The Research and Evaluation team are champions and custodians of evidence within the Ministry. We are responsible for looking ahead, developing, and delivering a programme of research and evaluative work that produces insights and positions knowledge products to shape the Ministry's strategic decisions. We are experts in results-based design, research, and evaluation, deploying a range of methodologies to answer questions at the core of effective social development intervention. We support quality, ethics, publication, transparency, and empowerment through the research process.
What we are looking for?
We are looking for experienced senior analysts who can lead project-based evaluations and generate insights to inform the development and delivery of employment-related initiatives.
Your work would involve analysing and evaluating interventions that aim to improve employment outcomes for a wide range of people like Mana in Mahi and the Flexi-wage subsidy.
You would work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, providing insights from research and evaluative work to inform key decisions about policy and programme design.
You would also contribute to organising the Research and Evaluation work programme and developing a comprehensive evidence base that can inform the ongoing development of employment and social interventions in New Zealand.
Natural relationship building and facilitation skills are essential in this role. You will bring a sound understanding of and experience in applying research and evaluation methods to social problems.
You will also be mentoring and supporting analysts to help them develop in their role.
To be successful in this role you would have:
- Degree in social sciences or a related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Research skills such as relationship building, recruitment, data gathering and qualitative analysis
- Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Sensitivity to and respect for cultural and other differences between people
- The ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Experience providing mentoring and support to develop others in the team
