About this role 

 

We are looking for a Director, Kaupapa Inquiries to join the Māori, Partnerships and Programmes (MPP) team.

 

The MPP team focuses on building strong and resilient communities using a range of prevention and community development approaches which lead to sustainable and long term outcomes for whānau, communities and whole of populations.

 

Reporting to the General Manager Māori, Partnerships and Programmes, you will provide leadership and direction for the delivery of the Ministry's Kaupapa Inquiries (KI) Programme across MSD; and develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders, Government, Crown and with Inquiry claimants. 

 

This in an integral role and an opportunity for you to provide expert knowledge and advice to influence key decisions in relation to the significant issues raised affecting Māori.

 

Skills and experience 

 

To be considered for this role you will have:

 

  • Extensive relationship and stakeholder management experience and an established record of operating and providing advice at a senior level.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to support staff and external partners through the organisation changes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability and political nous to effectively navigate complex cross agency issues in a dynamic policy environment.
  • Experience working with iwi/Māori and knowledge of Te Ao Māori, Kaupapa Māori and the Treaty of Waitangi.
  • Sound knowledge of the Machinery of Government.

Salary range: $134,378.00 - $201,566.00
