Overview of position 

 

The role of the Senior Advisor – Health and Disability is to support the both the Principal Health Advisor and Principal Disability Advisor at a strategic and operational level with implementing, monitoring and managing initiatives that support people with health and disability conditions.   

 

This role seeks to improve the Ministry's service approach to ensure that health and disability issues are incorporated into the products, processes and services that are delivered to New Zealanders.

 

You will work across the Ministry to bring strategy to reality.  This role involves project management to ensure the Ministry's current and future initiatives acknowledge, support and enable people with health or disabilities conditions achieve sustainable employment. 

 

We are looking for someone who has:

 

•    Knowledge of the health and disability sector. 

•    Excellent communication skills – both written and oral. 

•    The ability to build trusted relationships with a broad range

      of stakeholders. 

•    Proven experience to lead significant pieces of work. 

•    The proven ability to work well within a team. 

 

Successful applicants should have:


•    Experience in the employment of people with health and disability

      conditions. 

•    An understanding of the legislation, policy and procedures relating to the

      provision of social security benefits in New Zealand.

•    Knowledge of the United Convention on the Rights of People with

      Disabilities, The Lead Toolkit and the Disability Action Plan.

Salary range: $94,834.00 - $115,908.00
