Research Assistant: Sensory & Consumer Science at Massey University, Manawatū-Whanganui

Feast has an exciting Research Assistant  opportunity available for an individual passionate about sensory science and who loves working with food and people. The position is focused on profiling the sensory characteristics of plant-based foods available in NZ and from our industry partners. The successful applicant will join a wider team of research fellows and PhD students working on consumer perception of plant-based foods. Feast is a diverse and welcoming team working in state of-the-art consumer and sensory laboratories including dedicated booths, focus group and training rooms, and a digital immersive space.  

The position will give the successful candidate an opportunity to be part of a vibrant sensory research community and to apply and develop a range of sensory consumer science methodologies in the newly built Feast lab facilities with support from technical staff.   

You will be employed by Massey University and based in the Feast Lab on the Massey Campus in Palmerston North. We encourage individuals with a minimum of a Second Class Bachelor's degree with Honours in Food Technology, Food Science, Psychology or similar which included courses, and preferably projects, in sensory and consumer science/perception to apply. You must have strong oral and written English communication skills. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team.  

Applicants must be eligible for employment by Massey University, and consideration will need to be made of any current travel restrictions for overseas applicants outside of Australia. We are seeking to fill this position from July 2022 onwards.
