Principal Health Advisor
Overview of position
The role of the Principal Health Advisor is to provide strategic leadership that ensures the Ministry works effectively with people with health conditions to ensure they are supported to become independent in their community.
The role will provide direction, guidance and support to initiatives that support people with health conditions into work. While there is a focus on full time, sustainable employment, this role will also encourage the development of other forms of employment that provide economic and social support to people with health conditions.
The Principal Health Advisor will provide expert medical advice that ensures there is an alignment between the health sector and the goals of the Ministry in order to provide a client focused service to New Zealanders.
The role will require effective collaboration with the Principal Disability Advisor as many of the issues within the health and disability area overlap.
The Principal Health Advisor will also provide professional leadership, mentoring and advice to the Senior Advisor Disability & Health and the Regional Health Advisors.
- Demonstrated leadership across the health sector
- Vocationally registered medical practitioner
- Demonstrate innovative approach to strategic planning, policy and service design
- An understanding of the legislation, policy and procedures relating to the provision of social security benefits in New Zealand
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, Equal Employment Opportunities, and Occupational Health and Safety and an ability to apply these
- Knowledge of the workings of government and health reforms
Salary range: $166,001.00 - $249,001.00
