Job Description

Parliamentary MP Support to Tim van de Molen, MP

As a team member in the office of Tim van de Molen, MP for Waikato, you'll make sure everything runs smoothly day in and day out. This role is a varied and multifaceted one. First, you'll be handling the administrative side of things in the office - from reception services and dealing with correspondence, to offering the support your MP needs and researching issues when required. Second, you'll be a go-to person for people from the community who may need advice, have issues, or want to talk over anything of note within the electorate, whether it's over the phone or in person.

You will need to appreciate the sometimes unpredictable nature of the political environment and instead of letting it faze you, you thrive on it - putting your proactive, calm, and flexible personality to good use. You'll have to be someone who's empathetic and respectful, and confident in building strong relationships with a diverse range of people. You must be happy to work autonomously and be well known for your resilient and unflappable nature.

You'll be stepping into an environment that is unique, exciting, and rewarding. This really is a role unlike any other and if you're passionate about giving back and helping your community, it's right up your alley. As an organisation, it's extremely important to us that our people feel supported and are given the opportunity to continue to grow and develop their knowledge and their careers.

This role is for 20 hours per week. We are looking for two MP supports, one to look after his Matamata office and another for Morrinsville. Some flexibility in hours may be required. This is an events-based, fixed-term role linked to the Member of Parliament.

So what do you think? If you'd like to play an important in supporting your MP and helping your community, apply now.

Applications close at 5pm on Monday, 26 March 2018.

The Parliamentary Service appoints on merit and is committed to EEO and good employer principles.
