Youth Service works with young clients aged 16-19 years to support them into education, training, work-based learning, and employment. Equipping young people with the tools, information, and knowledge to transition towards positive outcomes is our key driver.

About the opportunity

Youth Service is aligned to the Ministry's Learning and Continuous Improvement Group (LC&I) with the purpose to manaaki our people to grow curiosity, capability and confidence. This will enable our people to Manaaki the mana of our young people, their whanau and communities.

We are seeking a motivated, youth-centred and strength-based person to join the In-House Youth Service team as a Capability Developer who can deliver learning, coaching, support and advice to our staff. The role will cover the Wellington & Whanganui Regions.


About You

This is a hugely rewarding role for those experienced in building strong relationships with people. You will equip, coach & develop staff in their learning journey, ensuring they are well-oriented in their role and have a clear understanding of the learning and development pathway ahead of them.

You will be informed by your youth development expertise to develop a tailored capability plan that captures their goals and aspirations that enables our people to own their development journey.

 

Skills and experience we are looking for include:

•    You have proven experience in behavioural coaching and learning evaluation in the workplace
•    You know how to identify opportunities for change and offer solutions to improve our clients experience
•    When you're under pressure, you keep calm and carry on 
•    You have flexibility – that is, you know how to adapt in a busy and changing environment
•    Sound communication skills are second nature to you, and you can comfortably adapt your communication style to cater for different people groups
•    You develop trust and credibility quickly
•    You value inclusiveness, diversity and respect in the workplace. 
•    A divergent thinker who demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and an open mind in terms of innovative thinking
•    Strong oral and written communication skills
•    A high level of computer literacy
•    The ability to self-manage and work with others

Salary range: $71,943.00 - $87,931.00
