Principal Advisor Change Management at Inland Revenue Te Tari Taake, Wellington - Wairarapa

Ara Whiwhi Mahi - The opportunity

Interested in ensuring that Inland Revenue has a robust change management plan to ensure change is delivered well for our people, customers and New Zealand, coordinating across a network of change analysts and working closely with initiative leads and project sponsors?

We're looking for an experienced change management lead with the ability to work with stakeholders from across business groups to ensure change impacts across a portfolio of initiatives are considered holistically, who can gather information and synthesise it for different audiences including senior leaders and executive governance groups. You'll need to be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment as part of a small, high performing team and working in a networked way with delivery teams and change analysts across the organisation. We need someone who can link across, lift up, join the dots and identify the 'so whats' of change, and provide proactive change management leadership.

IR is embedding a new operating model for planning, prioritisation and managing change initiatives. As a Principal Advisor in the Portfolio team, you'll be a key part of our team and will work with colleagues to support portfolio and initiative management, and reporting to stakeholders and executive governance forums. You will work closely with change analysts across the organisation and ensure coordination across the wider change community, including communications and visibility of change.

Ideally this role will start in March 2023 until March 2024.

Mōu - About you

You'll be curious and a systems thinker, have good relationship management skills, be highly organised with an ability to consider impacts for across Inland Revenue and our operating environment including customers and third parties.

In addition, you will have:

  • excellent written and oral communication skills to interpret and convey complex information in an easy to understand, concise and meaningful way
  • comfort and experience in engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • thorough knowledge and demonstrable experience in all aspects of business change management including impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, communications, change leadership and change readiness
  • knowledge and experience working in the public sector on legislative change is preferred but not essential.

The Portfolio team in Strategic Portfolio Stewardship facilitates enterprise-wide planning processes that enables IR to determine priorities, manage risk and invest in agreed change initiatives. As part of this, we need to provide assurance to our executive team that IR has a robust change management plan in place for our portfolio of change initiatives.
