Wellington based position.

As the Parliamentary Executive Support and Researcher to Hamish Walker, MP you'll be relied on to provide research and write briefings on his particular issues of concern as well contributing to social media, including writing for community columns.

This varied role will also include administration support, preparing reports, to managing their diary, travel or managing and reporting on budgets and expenses, and greeting visitors or answering correspondence.

You've got a keen eye for the political landscape and a knack for taking everything in your stride - things are changeable here so an appreciation for the environment and the ability to be calm, proactive, and flexible will stand you in good stead. Needless to say, you're about as switched-on as they come and you'll be confident in developing strong relationships built on trust and mutual respect.

Our ideal candidate will display:

  • strong administration and research skills
  • previous experience writing for social media
  • have local knowledge of the Southland region; you may be living there now and would consider a move to Wellington or have lived in the region previously.

This role is for 40 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours may be required, particularly when the House is sitting. This is an events-based, fixed-term role linked to the Member of Parliament.
