An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Collection Analyst to lead the development of our approach for a series of upcoming collections in 2018.

At Statistics NZ we have a vision to unleash the power of data to change lives and our Field Collections business unit is at the forefront of this in our data sourcing role from business and households across NZ. In 2018 we will be undertaking the collection of data for the Post Enumeration Survey and Te Kupenga Survey.

Through our teams, we are responsible for the operational planning, reporting, analysis and collection of these surveys.

Working as our Collections Analyst, you will be the lead member of a team tasked designing and implementing strategies to support the day to day operation of our front line teams. In particular you will:

  • provide expert and specialist advice, strategic assessment, and development of solutions for critical business issues, operational impacts, policy and strategic changes
  • Drive initiatives that enable an engaged and efficient Field operation, including writing policy documents and/or business cases
  • manage your team's recruitment, performance and development management, coaching and mentoring to increase your team's capability and productivity
  • deliver high value collection projects and initiatives by using agile project management, effective collaboration with stakeholders and internal business units, and maximising your team's resources by running project deliverables simultaneously
  • maintain and develop internal and external relationships, and use them to share and gain data collection expertise.

To be successful in this role we would expect you to have:

  • Demonstrated a high level of analytical expertise in previous positions
  • A track record of delivering to tight timeframes
  • Have the ability to translate business challenges into technical solutions
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with previous experience in writing policy documents and/or business cases
  • The ability to multi task and juggle competing priorities
  • Have very good MS Excel skills

  • Project management experience or relevant qualifications

Based in Auckland's CBD, Stats NZ has a supportive and engaging culture and cares about its people and their development. Not only do you get to work for a family friendly organisation, you are able to make a difference by helping our front line teams to deliver exceptional service and performance.

If you believe you have the required attributes for this position and you are a strong and confident communicator then we would welcome your application.

Applications close 11:59pm Wednesday, 23 August 2017.
