Ground Support Equipment Technician - Whenuapai

In this role you will undertake the technical maintenance and repair of Aircraft Ground Support Equipment, NZDF specialist vehicles, Mobile Refuelling Fleet and Deployable Bulk Fuel Facilities in support of RNZAF Operational Squadrons and Units.
 
This is a great opportunity for an experienced automotive technician to expand on their existing skills and experience. You will be joining a cohesive and supportive team in a future focused environment.
 
We are ideally seeking a person who has worked within a heavy vehicle workshop (diesel) or who has worked with heavy material handling equipment; you may have even worked as a technician within the aviation industry. You will bring with you good problems solving skills and a proactive and creative approach to finding solutions.
 
You work well within a team and you are also able to work autonomously; enjoying the opportunity to be self managing you openly share your knowledge and expertise with others which may include more ‘junior' technicians.
 
Some of the systems that are used within this role are computer based therefore you will need to be comfortable working with computers and possess a good level of computer literacy.
 
There are many opportunities for professional development within this role which can include obtaining the relevant licenses for the vehicles you will be working on i.e. classes 2 to 5 and F & DG endorsements. You will also use and learn about tooling and specialist tooling equipment.
 
Typically the hours and days of work are Monday to Friday 7:45am – 16:30pm.   Please quote NZDF-1709017 in all correspondence.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
 
Low level Security Clearance
  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
